Ulster Bank Sir George Quigley Award 2011
The Ulster Bank Sir George Quigley Award will be open for applications from 29th August. Community and Voluntary organisations from across the island of Ireland are invited to make an application to the fund. Up to €10,000 or Sterling equivalent will be available and the closing date for this fund will be 23rd September 2011.
The fund aims to support community groups and charities in their ambition to achieve long term sustainability. Funding for feasibility studies or salary will not be considered.

Better Together 2011: Boost Your Profile, Raise Funds and Win Cash Prizes!
CFI are proud to support Better Together 2011, The Wheel’s national campaign to build public support for community & voluntary groups. You are invited to submit a three-minute video to www.bettertogether.ie
from 19 September, to stand a chance to win one of three cash prizes of €3,000. You can also use your video to fundraise (there will be a built-in donations facility). The organisation that attracts the largest number of unique donations will receive €10,000. Entries open 19 September, see www.bettertogether.ie for more. The Better Together 2011 Campaign has received funding under the Community Foundation Impact Grants.

GIY Community Garden Network
GIY Ireland will be hosting a workshop on community gardens as part of its Annual Gathering 2011 in Waterford on September 10th. The purpose of the workshop will be to bring together interested parties and start the discussion on the aims and modus operandi of the GIY Community Garden Network. The kick off event will be followed by a dedicated one-day networking event in Spring 2012 as part of GIY Week to promote the network.

Business in the Community Ireland launch ‘Business Impact Map’
On August 31st, our sister organisation Business in the Community Ireland launched its innovative new Business Impact Map on http://maps.bitc.ie.
The map showcases the impact businesses around Ireland are having on the community. The map gives a county by county breakdown of how much companies and employees supported their local community groups and charities in 2010. The map showed that 35 companies around Ireland have developed 3,235 community partnerships and over €17 million in cash donations, in-kind donations and employee fundraising has been donated to charities and community groups.
